Obesity is the condition in which the weight and accumulated fat of a person has reached a level that significantly affects their health, longevity, circulatory system, respiratory system, skeletal system and sleep in addition to other parts of their life and body   Obesity is a medical condition and refers to excessive body fat. It occurs when the amount of calorie consumption exceeds the amount of calories lost. Obesity is not just a cosmetic concern, but it is a serious condition that is associated with several health problems such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, back pain, bone diseases, etc. Obesity or overweight status is determined on the basis of Body Mass Index (BMI), which is further evaluated in terms of fat distribution. Obesity is described as ‘Medoroga’ or ‘Sthaulya Roga’ in Ayurveda. Continuous indulgence in high fat food, fried items, etc., along with sedentary life-style leads to excess accumulation of body fat which gets deposited in the numerous body channels.
